ALERT: CA AB 962 has been signed by Governor Schwarzenegger and will go into law per the bill’s mandate July 01, 2010.
We urge you to take a minute and to re-write the Governor and express your discontentment with his decision to sign the Bill and remind him and other legislators and representatives that we will not forget their voting records. Californians have long memories and we will hold them accountable in future elections.
Letter to all California residents from Cabellas – PLEASE READ – AB962 Ammunition Restriction to be signed by Oct. 11 – Please call Gov. Schwarzenegger’s Office.

Another large hole being blown through our Constitution.
Hello folks – we knew this was coming.
Your guns are no good if you can’t find ammo. At least I’m sure that’s what the CA politicians are thinking.
Again the California legislature is spending time on issues they have no business legislating. Earlier this year they spent time questioning whether or not to listen to the will of the voters on Proposition 8. Now they are busy trying to prevent law-abiding gun owners from being able to exercise their constitutional rights. It is absolutely ridiculous that sales for ammunition be curtailed in any way. In the second amendment, every citizen is given the right to bear arms; one would assume that our Founding Fathers would extrapolate that to mean the freedom to hold ammunition as well.
My question is why? Do the clowns in Sacramento really think that AB962 is going to reduce crime. It doesn’t take a Ph.D. to realize that criminals are criminals. They will have no problem getting their ammunition illegally, and in the process California will wind up with another “controlled substance” that the police are unable to effectively supervise due to the politicians up North.
AB962 has been signed by the CA Assembly and is now on the Governor’s desk.
He must veto this by Oct. 11th or it becomes law.
Please take a moment to call the Governor’s office and ask him to veto this Bill before then.

Take a look at what this means to Calif. residents:
”
Among other regulations, AB 962 would:
- Ban all mail-order and Internet sales of handgun ammunition.
- Prohibit the retail sale, the offer for sale or the display of handgun ammunition in a
- manner that allows ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser without assistance of a
- vendor or employee.
- Require that the delivery or transfer of ownership of handgun ammunition occur in a
- face-to-face transaction, with the deliverer or transferor being provided bona fide
- evidence of identity of the purchaser or other transferee.
That evidence of identity, which must be legibly recorded at the time of delivery, includes:
- The right thumbprint of the purchaser or transferee.
- The date of the sale or other transaction.
- The purchaser’s or transferee’s driver’s license or other identification number and the
- state in which it was issued.
- The brand, type and amount of ammunition sold or otherwise transferred.
- The purchaser’s or transferee’s signature.
- The name of the salesperson who processed the sale or other transaction.
- The purchaser’s or transferee’s full residential address and telephone number.
- The purchaser’s or transferee’s date of birth.
“
Please join us in calling the Governor’s Office and committing to put our hard earned money behind our politics.
Buy all the ammo you can muster, this will undoubtedly drive prices through the roof and it is unacceptable.
By the stroke of a pen, another criminal is made. A father can not even pass down ammunition to his son or daughter without violating this unconstitutional law.

How sad is it that our legislature has time to take away my Constitutional rights, but doesn’t have time to actually balance the budget. This bill will only make it harder for honest citizens to obtain ammunition. The reality is that it will do nothing to reduce crime. The criminals will continue to get ammunition the way they always have…illegally. The idiocy of this is that the legislature is taking the time and energy to pass unconstitutional legislation; but they are unwilling to spend the time in a basic finance course…you know the type where they teach you that you don’t spend money that you don’t have
Criminals have no regard for the law, new or old. More laws only further shackle the people who abide by them.
This is slowly turning into a “war on drugs” scenario. An expensive and futile act, penned into effect by a handful of suits that are unable to see the forest through the trees.
Now, if we were going to go down the same road as certain leaders in this country are headed down, we should take out a second or even a third mortgage on our home (something we can’t afford) and buy up all the ammo and guns we can, to prove our point!
Ya, pretty dumb idea.
